Department of Mechanical Engineering and Industrial Design

The Technological Education Institute (TEI) of West Macedonia, with campuses in five cities throughout Western Macedonia, is the largest educational institute in the region and one of the largest in Greece. It comprises four schools and eleven departments, catering for a wide range of courses in engineering and informatics (School of Applied Science), business studies (School of Business and Finance), agriculture technology (School of Agriculture Technology, Food Technology and Nutrition), and health (School of Health and Welfare).

The Department of Mechanical Engineering and Industrial Design caters for two degree courses, Mechanical Engineering (established in 1976) and Industrial Design (established in 1996) and three postgraduate courses:
• MSc in Welding Engineering and Non-Destructive Inspection
• MSc in Renewable Sources of Energy & Energy Management in Buildings
• MSc in Product Design and Systems

The main objectives of the Department are to:
• cater for higher education learning via modern teaching methods and research according to international standards
• equip students with high quality professional skills,
• promote research
• ensure employability via collaboration with enterprises involved in engineering and industrial design
